Todd Boehly has met Ronaldo's agent to discuss potential Chelsea transfer

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is said to have met Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes to discuss a potential transfer swoop for the Portuguese star as he grows disgruntled at the lack of business Manchester United has done so far this summer.

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has already indirectly rubbished any chances of moving to Chelsea by admitting that he is ''happy to be where he is right now in the Premier League amid speculation that the forward is beginning to become frustrated with the transfer activity of the Red Devils.

The United forward who registered a total of 27 goals in all competitions for the Red Devils last summer has 12 months remaining on his current deal. It is understood that United's lack of transfer ambition showed so far in this summer's window has frustrated the six-time Ballon d'Or winner as negotiations continue to drag out with Barcelona over the Frenkie de Jong signing. With all focus solely on that alone, new manager Erik ten Hag is going to struggle to get other targets out of his former club Ajax over the coming weeks.

The current Dutch champions have already sold a number of their key stars this summer with Sebastian Haller's move to Borussia Dortmund now having a knock-on effect on the futures of Jurrien Timber, Arsenal-linked Lisandro Martinez and Spurs target Antony, both of whom are heavily wanted by ten Hag. Unless ridiculous money is involved, Ajax will stand firm and not let any more of their key stars leave - a stance which could jeopardize United's transfer window and further frustrate Ronaldo, who has already been offered to Bayern Munich by super-agent Jorge Mendes.

Julian Nagelsmann's team reportedly rejected this possibility after they had spent significant money in already bringing Sadio Mane to the Bundesliga this summer. Mendes, who wants to keep as many options on the table for his client, has unexpectedly turned to Chelsea, who themselves are in need of attacking reinforcements following the revamp that manager Thomas Tuchel has ordered new owner Todd Boehly to facilitate with the £200million plus transfer budget that has been set aside for the Blues boss to use at his disposal.

According to The Athletic, they have reported that new owner Boehly met with Ronaldo's agent Mendes in Portugal last week to discuss a number of topics. Ronaldo's future was one of the things discussed in this encounter. Whether or not Chelsea makes a move for the player in question remains to be seen.

It is understood that Man City's Raheem Sterling is the main attacking priority being pursued at this current moment by Chelsea but when the prospect of Ronaldo comes on the table, that plan can easily change. Multiple attackers are expected to be signed this summer to compensate for potential Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech exits amid AC Milan and Juventus talks but will the 37-year-old really be one of those brought in?

Well, based on the words of the man himself, he has admitted that he is 'happy' where he is to rubbish any potential Chelsea transfer talk, as the 37-year-old has also looked forward to life under ten Hag next season. “I was and still am very happy to be here,” he said in a recent interview. “I know (ten Hag) did a fantastic job for Ajax and that he’s an experienced coach but we need to give him time and things need to change the way he wants.

“I hope we have success. I wish him the best. We are happy and excited. Let’s believe that next year we are going to win trophies. I believe that Manchester [United] will be where they belong. Sometimes it takes time, but I still believe.”
